I have a way where I can totally separate myself from any feeling. I don't know exactly how I do it, but I do. This helps me from crying in public, or breaking down, or just feeling anything. Would you say this is a type of shielding? Also lately I've been noticing my empathy is pretty strong. I always just thought I related to people really well. But I will get nervous all of a sudden, for no reason, then I realized the person next to me is super nervous.
